Read:  John 21:1-14, 15:9-17, Philippians 3:7-14, 4:4-5

Sometimes we feel far from God because we’re trying to “catch our own fish” (a.k.a. rely on self). What are you fishing for right now?

John 15 and Philippians 3 teach us how to stay close to God. What kind of fruit is produced by abiding (see John 15:16)? What is the role of “forgetting” in our faith (see Philippians 3:14-14)?

How do joy, gentleness and God’s nearness fit together in our lives? How well do you exhibit joy and gentleness?
